Home Care Advice
After any massage treatment you may experience various reactions none of which you should be concerned with. The body has been stimulated and relaxed and it is now adjusting to this by ridding itself of toxins and working on any problem areas that have been treated.
Common reactions include:
- Increased desire to urinate
- Intensified emotional reactions
- Tiredness
- Lightheadedness
- Aching muscles
- Increase in production of mucous from the nasal passages
- Healing crisis where symptoms become worse for a few hours before they begin to improve
To make sure you get the most from your treatment it would be wise to consider some of the following:
Drink more water as water is important to our bodies. Increasing your consumption of fluids can prevent dehydration, headaches, nausea and promote the elimination of toxins.
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours after a treatment as your body is eliminating toxins already in the body it would be wise to avoid adding more (this can also apply to smoking, if possible try and refrain from smoking as many cigarettes).
Avoid driving immediately afterwards.
Look at your diet, eating less red meat can have a positive affects and help maintain the positive effects of a treatment. Current government recommendations are five portions a day of fruit and vegetables for a healthy body.
If possible incorporate some exercise routines into your day, this could have a positive affect on your psychological and physical being. In some cases please consult your GP first.
If working in an office take breaks during the day to get away from the computer and stretch your legs and mind.
Look at your workspace, are the ergonomics appropriate to your needs?
Look at your lifestyle, maybe you can develop a more holistic and balanced life (there are many books available for you to read).
